The Inquiry has ended. The Secretary of State is expected to announce his decision in the autumn.

National Grid wishes to build a Pressure Reduction
Installation in open countryside in Gloucestershire, on land adjacent to Flat Farm, near
Tirley.
NG lodged a planning application for the site (the one on the right in the map below) with Tewkesbury Borough Council in December 2008 but in February 2010 the Council refused planning permission. NG appealed and a Public Inquiry was held at Staunton and Corse Village Hall in July 2010. CAPRI was represented by its barrister, Jonathan Milner.
The Inspector said that he would submit his report and recommendation to the Secretary of State by 18th October. The Secretary of State will consider the report and make a decision based on that report, but the date that of publication of that decision is a matter entirely for the Secretary of State.
Under their proposal, NG would construct an industrial complex in an unspoilt, rural landscape. CAPRI vehemently opposes this plan.
National Grid had previously applied for planning permission to build a PRI only 400 yards to the west of the proposed site in
April 2006, but CAPRI objected and permission was refused in October 2006. National Grid
appealed and a Public Inquiry was held in May 2007. CAPRI gave evidence
and the appeal was dismissed by the Secretaries of State in December 2007 .
We believe that the best site for this PRI is not the unspoilt countryside at Tirley. There are alternatives sites which are better and more appropriate.

The Corse site (the 'first appeal site') is coloured BLUE. The Tirley site ('present application site', or 'Flat Farm' site, or 'current appeal site') as proposed by NG in December 2008 is coloured WHITE. The land coloured PURPLE is land which in July 2009 NG proposed to take for landscaping.
NG issued in September 2009 a Compulsory Purchase Order in respect of the land coloured RED, PURPLE and WHITE.
